I don’t think anyone actually enjoys writing big checks for home improvement projects, but I’ve been more than ready for tomorrow’s big project!

The old, rusty, leaking (red) windows at Flip 5 are finally retiring after 68 years!

It’s no secret I hate winter. I don’t like driving on ice. I despise being cold. Everything is dead. It’s just not my jam.

Unless I’m skiing on a mountain in Colorado.

I get asked all the time about my goal to buy a house in Florida. Am I going to move there? Am I leaving NWA?

Yes & no. Call me old, but I’m needing a snowbird haven- because I would certainly use it this week! I just want to escape winter! But I don’t plan to actually move down there full-time until I “retire.” What about you? What is your retirement going to look like?

I’m starting 2020 with almost no projects. No current flips. Garage Airbnb is almost done. I’m finishing up some delayed projects at Flip 5.

And I’m bored.

It’s a rarity to experience boredom in this line of work. So clearly I should savor it...but instead, I’m itching to tackle another project!

For 10 years I’ve lived in construction zones. That’s a lot of sweeping up dust, tripping over tools, & eating take-out food.

So when I get little pockets of a house done, it’s like a huge sigh of relief that I’m kind of living like a normal person.

But even on my most frazzled days where I’m cursing the damn extension cord I tripped over in the bathroom, I’m still pretty grateful for all this manic lifestyle has given me.

[New Blog Post] If you’re keeping track, it’s been more than 2 years since I started working on the Garage Airbnb. I’ve flipped houses a hell of a lot faster than I can flip a garage!

If you’re thinking I’m never going to finish- I’ve had those same thoughts! But I think we may be on the home stretch!

In today’s blog I’m sharing what I’ve accomplished so far, what’s left to do, & how on earth I’m going to warm up this very sterile white space.

Have you ever locked yourself out of the house? Have you ever taken a sledgehammer to your front door to get in? 🙋🏼‍♀️Because I have.

Not my finest moment, people. But you may remember this whole debacle from last year. Good news, it allowed me to get a new, dreamy mid-century door...with a smart lock.

So here’s to pretty doors & no sledgehammers!

All my flips are just means to a paycheck- except Flip 3.

In 1964, my grandparents scraped together $13,000 to purchase this new construction home. And they never left.

This house became a means to a paycheck, but it was a lot more than that.

It’s where Grandma taught me to love The Golden Girls.
It’s where Grandpa built forts in the living room for us.
It’s where my cousins & I ruined Grandma’s wood floors with our race cars.
It’s where I ate the best home cooked meals.
It’s where I drew on the walls and didn’t get in trouble.

While I view most real estate as a way to make money, this house taught me a house can be a hell of a lot more than that.

You know how they say the plumber has the leaky faucet? Well, the Realtor has the “I’ll get to it one day” projects.

And that one day is NOW!
