If you’ve never visited Palm Springs in Southern California’s desert, you need to add it to your bucket list. Known for its vibrant colors, mid-century architecture, and landscaping, Palm Springs is pure eye-candy at every turn. In March, I spent a week in Palm Springs and discovered several amazing locations with some incredible homes! These Palm Springs homes were some of the best I’ve ever seen!
Palm Springs House Tour
The Saguaro Hotel
Lodging in Palm Springs is not like normal hotels. Each hotel has amped up the design with bold colors, retro-inspired patterns, and palm trees dotted throughout. One of my favorites was The Saguaro. This throwback motel-style has an in-the-round style pool, on-site (delicious!) dining, and several lounge areas for guests.
Palm Springs Landscaping
Drive down any road in Palm Springs and you’ll see expansive mountains, sprawling palm trees, blooming cactus, and even fruits dangling from limbs. Each lawn is perfectly manicured and most are accented with landscaping pebbles due to the desert climate. The curb appeal is impressive and perfectly accent the mid-century, desert vibe.
Iconic Palm Springs Neighborhoods
Dotted along Apache Road are many retro elements of architecture. The Butterfly House is adorned with a rare floating butterfly roof & accented with a perfectly manicured exterior. This historic neighborhood is full of color, over-sized windows, throwback charm, and mountain views. It was definitely one of my favorites!
Palm Tree Drive
One of the ways to show style in Palm Springs is through creative & unique gates & entrances. From large iron gates with intricate design to sleek & modern minimalist gates, I loved seeing the character in each one!
Another must-see stop in Palm Springs is Driftwood Drive. This easily walk-able neighborhood is picture perfect. It’s hard to say what’s my favorite- the landscape or the architecture. There are no cookie cutters in these neighborhoods.
Mirasol & Mission
One of my absolute favorite neighborhoods was Mirasol & Mission. Large scale homes with spectacular curb appeal and impressive design & architecture. I wanted to photograph every single house.
Mid-century modern architecture has always been a favorite of mine. Many of these homes have a nod to Frank Lloyd Wright. Professionally landscaped and era-appropriate finishes and lighting, every single detail of the homes is meticulously planned.
Have you been to Palm Springs? This was my first trip, and I fell in love. I plan to visit again. If you’re needing a good excuse to visit Palm Springs homes, be sure to visit during Modernism Week.
