While pretty much all of Flip 8 was very extra (that bathroom!), the dining room was anything but extra. This boring, neglected space was the first room someone would see entering the home, and yet it was a total snooze, lacking all character! But with the help of Woody Walls, I transformed that boring dining room into the most charming room of the whole house! Updating the boring walls with Woody Walls wood planks was so easy and fast!

Updating Boring Walls With Woody Walls
There were so many things wrong with the room before I got started. That country blue wall color, (stained) carpet in a dining room, the filthy ceilings, and that random bathroom. But the space had potential!
I partnered with a company, Woody Walls, to create an easy focal accent in this space. I wanted to create a feature wall that brightened the space and amped up the design in the space- without breaking the bank or timeline.
Unlike pre-fab shiplap or wallpaper, Wood Walls offers real wood texture, grain, and pattern. I chose the Whitewash finish to compliment the Benjamin Moore River Reflections on the wall & the Benjamin Moore Dune White on the board & batten.
This real wood product is incredibly easy to install, so I was able to do this project in less than a couple of hours. The best part about the install? There is no gluing or nailing involved!
Tools Needed: Pencil, measuring tape, level, & hand saw or miter saw
Step 1: Before starting on the accent wall, I measured the height & width of the wall to determine the total square footage needed. I attached the wood planks to a freshly painted wall, but I still made sure the wall surface was clean & smooth before starting.
Step 2: I did a dry fit of the first row. Since these planks are actual wood, the grain & colors vary. I wanted to make sure the natural variation was spread out through the installation. I did a dry fit to align the patterns and to mark my cuts with a pencil.
Step 3: The fun begins! If you have ever applied a sticker somewhere, you can install Wood Planks! I removed the adhesive backing from each blank and attached to the wall. I made sure I had my cuts exact, and then I used the J-roller to roll each plank to make sure it was firmly secured.
I absolutely love the grain & color variation in each plank. The Woody Wall planks created a focal point in a very large space, & they enhanced the variation of colors with the paint & flooring. You can order samples here.
Woody Walls offer an easy alternative to make over a room- without any power tools! In various natural wood grains and colors, as well as mixed color options, the selections caters to various design styles. While I chose to pair the planks with a DIY board & batten, there are several other ways to incorporate Woody Walls into your decor:
- Ceiling feature in a room
- Herringbone kitchen backsplash
- Bookshelf lining
- DIY Headboard
- Coffee table makeover
- Kitchen island accent
