I mentioned that the previous owners must be pretty patriotic because much of the house was designed with red/white/blue. The exterior was a blue trim and the front door was a bright red. I actually liked the front door, but I hated the color. It clashed quite a bit with the blue trim. I selected an exterior white paint and used a sponge roller to apply the paint. I painted three coats on the door. Note: it takes a while for each coat to dry, and you can’t close the door during that time, so be prepared to have your door wide open for awhile.
I also purchased a new deadbolt and handleset from Dollar Locks. They are by far cheaper than anywhere else on deadbolts and handlesets. I was pleased with the quality and price.
Ignore the blue tape trim on the door.
There was a random closet in the garage that was pretty roomy. I thought it would make a great pantry or additional storage room. I purchased wood from Lowe’s and had them cut it down to the correct size and then used walnut stain. Installing the metal brackets was an easy process and the shelves have held quite a bit of weight.
